Statement

David Abadie has concentrated his computer technology studies on the 'presentation layer' of web site development. He has a thorough understanding of server and client site scripting as well as a a good eye for design. His strength is tying together these two disciplines to create a successful user experience.

A developing CSS specialist, Mr. Abadie is a firm believer in using web standards, semantic markup and CSS to create web layouts. In other words, the content of a web page should be separate from how it is presented. The advantages of using these methods for page layouts are numerous. Most importantly, using semantic markup greatly increases accessibility for all users, including those who use text readers. Other advantages include the following: file sizes are reduced, which lowers bandwidth costs, layouts can be changed or altered much more quickly and easily, and since the amount of code required for each page is smaller, development time is shorter.

Kansas City

Mr. Abadie moved to Kansas City in 2004, and was impressed by the beauty and uniqueness of the city. The neighborhoods, the boulevards and the green space were all a welcome surprises. In particular, the Nelson-Atkins art museum with its extensive sculpture garden became a favorite. The middle photo shows 'Shuttlecocks', a pop-art piece by Claes Oldenburg and Coojse van Bruggen. Four 18 foot tall shuttlecocks are placed around the building as if the museum and the grounds were a giant badminton court. Other landmarks include the Gem Theater (top photo) near 18th and Vine and the Nichols fountain (bottom photo) on the Country Club Plaza.
